I am a freelance journalist with more than 16 years of experience both as a business reporter and in newspapers, including The Sunday Times and the Daily Express, covering breaking news.
Until March 2018, I was part-time editor of social care magazine Care Markets, where I covered financial markets, select committee inquiries and other policy events. I also attended briefings with senior government ministers, grilled chief executives of multi-national corporations and deconstructed and analysed financial results and complex government publications. On top of this, I did the magazine layout in InDesign.
I spent four years in local journalism, most recently as news editor of the Barking & Dagenham Post where I ran the newsdesk, came up with and managed campaigns, maintained and updated the newspaper’s website and social media pages, as well as co-ordinating a team of three reporters. I also carried out investigations, analysis and drove forward the Post’s news agenda, increasing its circulation and web traffic. Prior to that I was a reporter for both the Newham Recorder and Hackney Gazette where many of my articles were picked up by national media and I gained a jam-packed contacts book. I remain a very ambitious and tenacious journalist, brimming with story ideas.
I speak Spanish at a conversational level and I am currently training as a data journalist.
